On October 28, 2025, a delegation led by Mr. Li Hongyan visited our school for an exchange and discussion on establishing industry-university-research collaboration with our faculty. Mr. Li holds multiple key positions at Geely Research Institute, including Chief AI Expert, Head of the AI Committee, Head of the AI Laboratory, Senior Chief Engineer of the Intelligent Cockpit Branch, and Senior Chief Engineer of the AI Center.The exchange meeting was chaired by Associate Professor Wang Shuai from the School of Artificial Intelligence.

At the meeting, Professor Shan Caifeng, Vice Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Geely Research Institute. He proceeded with an overview of the School, covering aspects such as discipline construction, faculty expertise, scientific research achievements, platform development, and industry-academia collaboration.Professor Shan highlighted that since its establishment, the School has leveraged the advantages of the Suzhou Campus to continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation with the industry, actively promoting the application of AI technologies to better serve national and regional economic development. He noted that the School has recruited several outstanding young talents from leading tech companies like Huawei, Tencent, and Alibaba on a full-time basis, who are now fully involved in teaching and research activities, laying a solid foundation for enhanced industry-university-research collaboration.Furthermore, he emphasized that the School has accumulated substantial experience in industry-academia partnerships. He expressed the hope that through the exchange with Geely Research Institute, both sides could join forces, complement each other's strengths, and identify key areas for collaboration. The aim is to foster concentrated innovation and integrated development in joint scientific research, talent exchange and training, and the co-construction and sharing of platforms.
On behalf of Geely Research Institute, Li Hongyan expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception from the School of Artificial Intelligence. He then provided a comprehensive overview of Geely Research Institute, focusing on its industrial structure, research directions, and future plans.He stated that due to the extensive and complex internal system of Geely Research Institute, a systematic review and multiple in-depth exchanges with universities are essential to identify key collaboration points and maximize the benefits of cooperation. He extended a welcome to faculty members from the School to attend the upcoming Geely Technology Summit for deeper engagement.Furthermore, he expressed his hope that the two institutions could jointly tackle challenges in multiple frontier technology fields. He proposed achieving this through pragmatic measures such as co-applying for research projects, jointly building scientific research platforms, and promoting the commercialization of research outcomes, thereby fostering collaborative innovation and shared value.
